“MUSIC MAKING OF BLAZING INTEGRITY: FROM THE HEART, TO THE HEART”

Manchester Collective are back on the road this autumn with our new touring show for a socially-distanced world. It’s small scale repertoire that makes a big impact, featuring some of the most affecting, transcendental chamber music we know.

Henryk Górecki’s second string quartet was written just 27 years ago, but already feels like an essential part of the quartet repertoire. It’s music that is by turn inspiring, hysterical and devastating. We’ve paired it with ‘Aloysius’ – Edmund Finnis’s first contribution to the quartet canon, a work of quiet beauty and poetry.

The alternate version of this programme features a string sextet trip down memory lane, as we revisit the very first piece the Collective ever performed – Arnold Schoenberg’s luminous ‘Transfigured Night’.

As the days grow short, sit back and lose yourself in Night Music.

Programme and tour details are contingent on the evolving public health situation in Europe and the UK. We’re currently taking additional bookings for this tour, and can perform in a variety of settings – if you’re a concert presenter and would be interested in working with the Collective, drop us a line.
